We are excited to announce the start of a formal Echols Alumni Mentoring program as a new signature feature within the Echols Scholars experience. As an Echols alumnus, we invite you to become a mentor for one of the Scholars currently attending the University. This is not only a meaningful way to help support this group of talented students and inspiring leaders, but it is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the greater Echols community through your involvement.
The Echols Alumni Mentoring program is supported by the Virginia Alumni Mentoring (VAM) program, a new initiative within the UVA Career Center. To find out more about the program please visit their website [click here].
As a mentor to current Scholars, your reflections on the value of your Echols experience and your career perspectives and guidance will be invaluable. The mentoring match process is student-initiated, based upon students’ search criteria which can include research focus, academic disciplines, career interests, and other factors. As an Echols mentor, you will be able to review student profiles before accepting a match request.
Since we are looking to quickly build the Echols Alumni mentor membership in order to launch a first pilot with current scholars in mid-March, if you are interested in participating simply complete the one-step registration process within VAM and indicate your Echols affiliation.
